Conscience Point, 2017

Jeremy Dennis is participating in This Sea, a maritime and marine conservation themed art show and sale presented by the Sag Harbor Whaling & Historical Museum as part of its annual summer benefit, Calm Before the Storm.

The event takes place Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on the grounds of the museum’s historic Benjamin Huntting House at 200 Main Street in Sag Harbor. Calm Before the Storm is the museum’s largest annual fundraiser, with proceeds supporting exhibitions, educational programming, community events, and the preservation of its historic collections.

This Sea is presented in conjunction with the opening of The Church’s exhibition This Land: Considering the American Landscape. The art show and sale celebrates the beauty, significance, and preservation of the marine environment, with works by Jeremy Dennis, Scott Bluedorn, Scott Hewett, and other participating artists.

Jeremy’s participating work is Conscience Point from his On This Site project, connecting Indigenous history, coastal place, and Long Island’s maritime memory.

The exhibition will also feature Corazon Valiente, a monumental 9-foot whale sculpture by Cindy Pease Roe made from reclaimed marine debris, including rope, netting, fishing tags, sandbags, lobster traps, buoys, steel armature, and plastic fragments. The sculpture will be suspended above the museum’s entrance throughout the 2026 season.

The program includes student artwork from Ross Lower Campus and Amagansett School, curated by museum educator Stacy Myers as part of Project SEA, a collaborative initiative between the Whaling Museum and Bridgehampton Museum exploring connections between land, sea, and human communities.

Party guests will enjoy art, music, food, drinks, and community gathering, with refreshments from Sen and Harbor Market and Kitchen, a performance by Sag Harbor native Lola Lama, a virtual right whale discovery experience, and an online auction closing at 7:00 PM on June 20.
