Description
Lucky Stick Pile, based on an oral account ca. 1930, published in The Spirit of The New England Tribes, published by William S. Simmons in 1986. In southern Mashpee, there was a supposed wishing place. Each time a person passed a stick pile, it was a custom while passing whether in a wagon or walking to pick up a stick or a small tree, spit on it, and make a wish while throwing it on the pile
