The Narragansett tribal church is a sturdy granite structure that rests on the side of an earlier wood church in deep woods by an ancient Narragansett cemetery. Even today, this section of Charlestown is one of the most secluded corners of southern New England.
Ethel Boissevain, an anthropologist who spends her summers in Narragansett country and has been studying their history and traditions over thirty years collected a legend about ghosts singing in the church.
