OUTCROPPING – Indigenous Art Now | I am excited to announce an open call for Indigenous artists for an in-person exhibition I have been invited to curate at the Southampton Art Center @southamptonartscenter This is an open call to Shinnecock artists and Indigenous artists from across the country. The exhibition will feature paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures, videos, and more. The show will be on view from February 4th to April 9th, 2022 at the Southampton Arts Center in Southampton, New York. The title 'Outcropping' refers to Shinnecock's translation into English as 'People of the Stony Shore' and Shinnecock's long connection to this land. After thousands of years of thriving upon what is now known as Southampton Village, Shinnecock people now struggle with issues of marginalization, maintaining tribal sovereignty and self-determination, economic development, wealth gaps, and being rendered invisible. Submissions will be accepted until December 30, 2021The selected artists will be notified by January 10, 2022More info and link to apply in BIO********•••••#indigenous #art #nativeamerican #nativeart #native #beadwork #firstnations #handmade #indigenousart #artist #culture #nativeamericanart #nativeartist #beadedearrings #powwow #aboriginalart #indigenousartist #nativepride #aboriginal #love #powwowbling #iaia #streetart #shinnecock #powwowworldwide #artistsoninstagram #americanindian #indigenouswomen #opencall #contemporaryart
