History

Ca. 1890-1920

During the time when Church Street on the reservation was widened or paved, running west off Hill St., an ancient Shinnecock Cemetery was found on the hill both sides of the road. Some of the human remains were reburied there, or wound up at the New York State Museum in Albany.1
