Jeremy Dennis participates in MOCK, a group exhibition at Ejecta Projects in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
The exhibition considers mockery, parody, satire, fakery, rehearsal, authenticity, remix, and resistance to authority. Dennis presents Land Claim (2019), a framed 18 x 22 inch inkjet print, edition 4/10.
Land Claim confronts the ongoing transformation of Indigenous territory into spaces of leisure, luxury, and recreation. A woman plants a beach umbrella into the sand as a Native figure dives toward her, turning a familiar act of temporary ownership into a charged image about dispossession, settler entitlement, belonging, and resistance.
